USAID Offers New Opportunity - Limited Excess Property Program

Every day brings with it a chance to make a difference in the world – to affect change in the lives of the needy by providing access to food, clean water, medical care, shelter, and educational materials.

Charitable organizations strive to do this every day, in every corner of the world. Yet many times an organization will miss out on an opportunity to further its relief efforts. Why do they fail? Often it comes down to a lack of timely information or technical expertise. SeaRose stands ready to assist your efforts by providing the logistical support needed for a successful humanitarian response.

SeaRose can best be summed up by: People. Partners. Possibilities. These are three words that speak to our special focus. One of the ‘Possibilities’ that I am pleased to bring to your attention is a program announced by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Under the ‘Limited Express Property Program (LEPP)’, USAID monitors the availability of excess property at various government agencies. They then coordinate access to, and use of, this material by U.S. based Private Voluntary Organizations (PVO’s) for use in their programs and projects overseas.

An electronic version of the complete LEPP application is available by clicking here.

USAID will be holding a LEPP teleconference on June 30, 2010 from 2pm to 3pm Eastern Time. To participate dial 678-809-1604 (for international callers) or 877-342-9752 (for domestic callers) and enter conference ID number 83894757. If you are unable to participate in this teleconference, a summary of the information learned and points discussed will be available on our website.

Program participants must be registered with USAID, as a PVO, by the application deadline – July 16, 2010. Is your organization registered? If not, you are missing out on the opportunity to participate in most of USAID’s programs. Let us help you realize the possibilities.

    Hi Jim,

Do you have the list of the available excess properties. You mentioned about a database in your interview. Could you please send us a link to this database?

Also, it appears that the application deadline is July 16th. Are we too late to apply for any of these excess properties?

    Thanks.

    Rupak …

Thanks for your recent comment to our LEPP blogpost.

There is no available list of items but, having attended the Q&A Teleconference, the items cover a wide range: from computers to vehicles to medical equipment and supplies. Once a charity is ‘awarded’ a program by USAID, they are given access to the on-line inventory from which to select items they wish to have made available to them.

Unfortunately, the deadline has indeed passed and late proposals will not be accepted by USAID. We understand that USAID anticipates offering this opportunity again next year.

Are there particular items that you seek for NEI? What other needs does NEI have? Perhaps we can be of assistance while we both await a new round of LEPP.

    BRgds
